Cologin self catering chalets, near Oban
“We just had a weekend family get-together staying in Cologin chalets, just south of Oban. Oban is a very nice town, easy to walk around and bustling with the ferries coming and going to the islands. Cologin is a great venue for such a family or group occasion. Once settled you can forget the car and take various walks through the woods to many vantage points with dramatic views over the countryside. In the evening we had a great time in the Barn, a pub/restaurant, on the grounds of Cologin and therefore no need to drive. Jim, the owner of Cologin, booked a band and organised food for the evening and went the extra mile to make an evening that was enjoyed by all.”add response

The Coach House Coffee Stop, Luss
“This is a truly excellent experience in every way. Consistently friendly and efficient service offered in a cared for environment. An excellent range of fresh food and cake and a quality gift shop. The kind of place your mum AND your teenage niece would think was cool. Worth considering on a crisp winter's day, enjoy a refreshing walk along the banks of Loch Lomond, visit the parish church - itself a gem and then stop for lunch or afternoon tea. A warm welcome awaits. ”by Pauline Corrigan on 30/10/2007
Northern Light Charters
“Mark Henrys and Hannah Thompson own and operate Northern Light Charters, taking guests on small-boat tours from Oban to destinations throughout the Hebrides and, occasionally, well beyond. I have traveled on a number of cruises with Northern Light over the past 6 years. Their service has always been exceptional, but until recently, I did not realize that it is in fact world-class. Trips on similar-sized boats in Europe, Mexico and Canada have convinced me that no one provides small boat cruises of quality comparable to that offered by Mark and Hannah on Hjalmar Bjorge. There is fastidious attention to detail from initial inquiry onwards, high standards of comfort and safety, excellent food, convivial atmosphere—and the Hebrides and west coast of Scotland as a glorious backdrop to the whole experience. Highest recommendations!”by Jill on 23/08/2007
Island of Staffa
“The crew of MV Ullin belonging to Gordon Grant Marine (Iona) on our boat trip to Staffa should be congratulated as being a testament to good service. Polite friendly, smiling, helpful. Two lads, best crew staff we've come across on our island visits so far.

Joan and Fred's - Argyll House in Stirling
“This year in September we are returning to Scotland for our wedding anniversary. My wife and I married (second time for both of us) in Stirling five years ago, and we are coming back from our native Canada for our anniversary. When we married we booked a B&B from an internet listing. We couldn't have picked a finer couple to share our visit and marriage with. Joan and Fred definitely went the extra mile, and we will always hold then dear to our hearts. Of course, during our many visits to Scotland, we have met nothing but fine people and visited many beautiful and historic places. We will continue to come back as many times as we are able!
Your website is a great idea. We'll be sure to let everyone know about it in our travels, and I am sure we'll have lots of new entries after our next trip. Scotland forever!

Bridge of Lochay Hotel & Restaurant, Killin
“We visited on 17th March 07 for a bar supper. Whilst the menu was more substantial than a 'supper' the food was excellent quality, perfectly cooked and great value. The surroundings were really warm and cosy (open fires) and the staff were very welcoming and attentive. The wine list was also very agreeable with the wine of the month an excellent choice - only £9.99 a bottle! We highly recommend a relaxing eveing out whilst staying in/around Killin or Loch Tay. ”by Fiona Coyle on 20/03/2007
Foxbank Guest House, Hunter's Quay, Argyll
“We have stayed there a number of times and each time the owners – Lawther & Ronnie Murchison – really pull out all the stops to make us feel welcome. There is such a happy and relaxed atmosphere with amazing views of the River Clyde.
The guest house has been recently been refurbished and the attention to detail has been first class – from the new and en suite facilities to the home baking, freshly baked bread to percolated coffee. We really could not have asked for more. And on top of the that the rates are so reasonable!
I think the owners must do this job for love

Scot Holm B&B, Connel
“We had a 07hr30 ferry from Oban, but our hosts got up and cooked us a full Scottish breakfast before we departed... very friendly and welcoming.”by Johanna and Gilbert on 04/01/2007
“We went on the strength of Johanna and Gilbert's recommendation (well, they know their stuff) and were not disappointed. The owner was outside to greet us before I'd finished parking, and a moment later was carrying my wife's bag. The room, the breakfast, and the friendly helpfulness were all excellent -- and there's an impressive view of Connel Bridge from the garden. ”

Dairy Cottage, Glendaruel
“We booked a cottage on the Cowal Peninsula, and arrived to find a box of home-made flapjacks on the table and a bottle of white wine in the fridge. Actually the cottage is very good and I'd recommend it to anyone. There was a view out of the large window so visitors could watch the many birds feeding on the 'patio' (with books provided for identification)”by Graham Leake on 04/01/2007
Kilmartin House Museum Café
“Picture the scene about 1715 on a wet Monday in August. My client a fanatical stone circler is dying for a hot drink. In we go to the empty café. I am full of trepidation bearing in mind the hour..." What can I get you gents?" says the bright girl behind the counter. "A double decaff latte with cinnamon?" offers up the visiting Professor. As he admitted to me afterwards more in hope than in expectation! "Coming right up" chirrips the girl. What a wonderful feeling when it all comes together like that! That guy then goes on to book an Osler Society Meeting over 3 days in Edinburgh followed by a 5 day tour for over 70 people. ”by Charles Hunter on 04/01/2007
“I visited the Museum a few years ago. As well as being situated in a lovely valley, it has a lot of interesting information available. Also, it had a great restaurant which I've used several times when driving through Kilmartin. ”
